Censorship on Public Television
So, after watching this video... wow. I'm really surprised that half of the vocabulary isn't bleeped out. Really? Okay, let's think about television programs ten or fifteen years ago. The word 'ass' was definitely not an option to just say without a bleep. The only word that seems to be bleeped is the F word. This is a muchmusic program that is aired throughout the week, at times such as 2 in the afternoon and 6 in the evening. Are kids in bed by these times? Noooot usually. So how is this affecting kids?
I was actually walking to school the other day... some kid tripped his friend. The friend goes, "Awww, what the f*** are you doing you piece of sh**?" Really? Dude, this kid was like, 7 years old. Why is the media supporting potty mouth within such a young generation?
And I quote...
"A video that starts with an orgy? Britney, you've turned the slut meter up to 11 for this one."
"Kanye is totally starting to lose his shit.. not like you and Neyo haven't boned the same bitch before"
"I wonder if there's an application on this Iphone that makes this song less shitty."
Really? Wowww.

AUGH!!!! I know exactly what you mean about little kids swearing. You have NO idea how difficult it is to censor things for your kids these days. Gabriel and I take the bus, and every bloody kid riding it is swearing up a storm, not caring at all that there is a three year old listening... just waiting to repeat every swear word he hears when he gets to daycare! Grr.
ReplyDeleteThink I'm going to write my next blog about this, thanks for the idea. You got me off on a rant now. :)
Yes!! I also agree with this I babysit 3 small kids all under the age of 6 and its crazy! The other day we went to the park and there was a bunch of other young kids there and I over heard one of the kids telling the other kid what the word a**hole ment! It was shocking!!
ReplyDeleteI defiantly agree with this, kids now a days have no respect for anybody or any thing. If this keeps up, our future generations they are pretty much going to be in big trouble. They aren’t going to respect anything, the world is going to explode.
ReplyDeletelol John.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with this, but I gotta point out that a long time ago, the word 'jeez' wasn't allowed, on TV or otherwise because it was a contraction of 'Jesus', and it was used in vain. Words like 'swell' and 'nifty' were also thought to be used only by the lowest class, and at that time, THEY were the dirty words.
I guess vocabulary will just keep changing, getting rid of old offensive words, and introducing new ones.
