Censorship on Public Television
So, after watching this video... wow. I'm really surprised that half of the vocabulary isn't bleeped out. Really? Okay, let's think about television programs ten or fifteen years ago. The word 'ass' was definitely not an option to just say without a bleep. The only word that seems to be bleeped is the F word. This is a muchmusic program that is aired throughout the week, at times such as 2 in the afternoon and 6 in the evening. Are kids in bed by these times? Noooot usually. So how is this affecting kids?
I was actually walking to school the other day... some kid tripped his friend. The friend goes, "Awww, what the f*** are you doing you piece of sh**?" Really? Dude, this kid was like, 7 years old. Why is the media supporting potty mouth within such a young generation?
And I quote...
"A video that starts with an orgy? Britney, you've turned the slut meter up to 11 for this one."
"Kanye is totally starting to lose his shit.. not like you and Neyo haven't boned the same bitch before"
"I wonder if there's an application on this Iphone that makes this song less shitty."
Really? Wowww.

Superbowl Expenses
Superbowl Ads: the statistics are pretty surprising, to say the least. In the 70's, the cost of a commercial slot during the superbowl was just about $50,000. Nowadays, the cost is in the million dollar range. Why? Is it because more and more viewers have tuned in over the years? Is it less expensive to produce commercials with recent technology, that the superbowl knows this and therefore charge more for the slot? And what is shown for it? Are the commercials really that much better quality than they were 20 years ago? What are people getting out of all of this? What I think troubles me the most is that the producers of these commercials don't really have a choice in the matter. Either you lose TONS of publicity by not having your commercial aired, or you pay TONS of money for such a miniscule slot that it probably doesn't even make a difference.

Short Films
http://www.nfb.ca/playlists/animated-short-films-hothouse-5/viewing/hothouse_5_orange/
This film was called "Orange". To sum it up, it gives us a unique perspective on how the world would be if not only mammals 'lived' around us, but the buildings and scructures did as well.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Short films without dialogue intrigue me especially, because it encourages us to look deeper into the content without the advantage of words within the film. Also, I appreciate the way the film was shot, as this is a favourite way to create film for me (with frames as opposed to one shot). Next, I love the attention to detail. For example, the two pipes coming out of the ground and how the shadow appears to be human, which would be harder to notice unless you watched it a couple times.

KATE MOSS
Kate Moss; top model. Has been for ages. And they can EVEN find something wrong with her. Not to say that the enitial photo that they modify is the greatest or anything, but really... there's not THAT much wrong with her. A few blemishes, not the most flattering expression, some wrinkles here and there... which goes to prove that what they accomplish with the photoshopping wasn't really even necessary in the first place.

The Love/Hate Relationship Between Media and Myself
When I think about media, what's the first thing I think of?
Without hesitation, it is without a doubt, all negative. I think of government schemes. I think of distorted views of self image. I think of corrupted youth.
But then I think harder and realize, wait... we're not really discussing something that serious, are we? Cell phones and facebook and what have you... it all seems so casual and prevalent in society. In a recent article online, I read that nearly 100% of Canadians own a cell phone. Seriously, think of 20, even 10 years ago when cell phones were nearly the size of your foot and could only receive and make calls. Now, think of all the changes! Calls are the least of anybody's worries when buying a phone. For example, what is the megapixel count on the camera in your phone? Is it also an mp3 player? Does it have internet included?
WHY CAN'T PEOPLE JUST APPRECIATE A PHONE FOR A PHONE? I don't quite understand it yet. It's the beginning of me feeling old, not understanding technology, and I'm only 18.
As is clearly shown, I disagree with most technology and it's useless passtime apps. However, I'm still guilty. It's nearly impossible to call someone nowadays without them saying, "I only have free texting, not calling, so don't call." Well, if I didn't have a cell phone, I'd basically be screwed, would I not?
